Don’t you love when you find a simple solution to a problem that really works? I do! I remember my mom using this mixture when I was growing up. All the Garden Club ladies know about it…give it a try.
If you have little critters on your plants, this will do the trick! It treats caterpillars, thrips, aphids, and mealybugs.
Bug Blasting Soap
- 1 tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap (no other soap will work)
- 1 gallon warm water
Pour the liquid dishwashing soap into the warm water a stir well. It’s best to test spray it on a couple of leaves, just to make sure your plant is not too sensitive (but I’ve never had that problem) to the solution.
Be sure to cover both sides of the leaves and the stem. The soap breaks down the protective coverings of the bugs, causing them to dehydrate.Repeat the treatment twice a week until the bugs are completely gone.
How’s that for a simple solution? Go get ’em!
